You may be wondering about the title, thinking – what has
one got to do with the other. Oh, everything, everything. Ask any spouse of a
die-hard sports fan and you will know. There are good days and bad days in
sports – and you like it or not – it has a direct linking to your day at home.
Now if the spouse is a fan of multiple sports, things could
get even more complicated. Your morning, noon and night depends on individuals
and teams. Spans the various time zones. So it is just not domestic players –
it’s international too.
My hubby had a dream run last weekend – till it all came
crashing down on Sunday night. If you are not a sports fan – then here’s the
list of things which was happening during the weekend – all of which my hubby
follows. Euro cup football (Europe), Western conference basketball (US), French
Open Tennis (France), F1 race (Monaco) and the insane IPL Cricket in India. Ignorance is bliss - i have no clue about all the other sports which was going on - didn't affect my domestic bliss you see.
So you need to get this. The spouse (me, in this case) –
will have to keep the fingers crossed for not only individuals to play well but
also teams – and add to it that it is just not domestic players – so praying to
just Ganesha will not help – need to add all the multiple religious Gods, cos
there are foreign players as well, and God knows which God they pray to!!!
Everything was fine – Real Madrid beat Atletico, GSW – with Stephen
Curry in particular made a nice comeback to beat OKC, Wawrinka was again
showing his tenacious nature, and the others players, who have absolutely no
clue that their performance can wreak havoc, advanced to the next round in the
French open. The icing on the cake was Hamilton podium finish. All well.
Until then. Seriously, I have no clue what happened to Kohli
and his boys. All I can say is, the dream run came to an end. And I was back to
reality where my hubby’s euphoric mood got a big puncture and I was thrown back
to reality!!!
